Face Recognition: Setting the Match Rate

Each employee with Face Recognition enabled has a minimum acceptance rate, set in the Face Recognition column in PROJECTS. It is the confidence SCREENish needs before it counts a check as a match.

A check counts as a match only when two things are true: the face matches the approved photo, and the frames pass the liveness test, which tells a live person from a photo or a video held up to the camera. A check that fails either one lowers the hourly rate in the same way, so the rate you set applies to both.

Higher is stricter. Set it too high and ordinary things — a dim room, a new pair of glasses, a hat — start failing honest checks. Most teams are best served leaving it at the default and only raising it if they have a reason to.

The match rate per hour shows in WORK LOGS. A low rate is worth a conversation, not a conclusion — cameras and lighting fail far more often than people do.
