Team Overview: Attendance, Start and End of Work by Week

The Attendance tab of Team Overview is a weekly grid of your whole team: one row per employee, one column per day, and in every cell the time the person started working and the time they finished. It answers the question managers ask most often, who starts when, without opening work logs one by one. Everything is on your clock (the timezone of your profile), the same clock the rest of Team Overview uses.

The grid is useful from the first day with no setup at all. Once you also tell SCREENish your working hours, every day is marked on time, late, early or absent and each employee gets a weekly count. You can set hours for the whole team and adjust them for the people who work a different shift.

What the grid shows

The week runs Monday to Sunday. The arrows above the table move to earlier weeks (up to a year back); today's column is marked with an orange line. In each cell you see the start of work (the first tracked 10-minute slot of the day) and the end (the last one). While someone is still tracking today, the cell says working instead of an end time. A small m next to the start means the day opened with a manual time entry rather than tracked time.

The Avg start column is the average start time over the days the person worked that week; click the column header to sort by it, and the people who begin latest come to the bottom. Tracked is the week total. Every column header sorts, and Export CSV downloads the whole grid with the summary columns.

Hover over a cell for the details: exact start and end, minutes tracked (and how many were manual), and, when working hours are set, how many minutes late or early the start was and whether the person left early.

Setting working hours for the team

Click Set working hours above the grid. Choose the start and end of the workday, tick the work days, pick a grace period (starting up to that many minutes after the start still counts as on time) and, if the day includes an unpaid lunch, the unpaid break: the hours expected per day are the end minus the start minus that break. The default is 15 minutes, and there is a reason not to go lower: the tracking app reports in 10-minute slots, so the start of work is known to about ten minutes. Save, and the grid repaints at once.

The hours apply to every employee. The button then shows them, for example Working hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Mon to Fri, and opens the same window to change or remove them. Removing the team hours returns the grid to the plain view; employees with custom hours keep theirs.

Custom hours for one person

Someone works a different shift? Click the pencil next to their name in the grid, or the clock icon next to their name on the Users page. The window opens with the team hours filled in; change what differs and save. The row gets a small custom badge, and the window offers Use team hours instead when you want to drop the exception. Custom hours work even when no team hours are set.

How a day is judged

  • On time (green): the start is within the grace of the scheduled start, before or after it.
  • Late (amber): the start is more than the grace after the scheduled start. The cell shows by how much, for example +22m, and the Late column counts the days and averages the minutes.
  • Early (blue): the start is more than the grace before the scheduled start.
  • Absent (red): a past work day with nothing tracked. The Absent column counts them.
  • Not started (amber): today, the scheduled start plus the grace has passed and nothing is tracked yet. Before that moment the cell says Not yet.
  • Day off: a day outside the work days. Work tracked on such a day is shown in violet and never counted as late or early.

Leaving early (finishing more than the grace before the scheduled end) is shown in the cell's tooltip once the day is over; it is not judged while the person is still tracking. Days that have not come yet stay blank.

The daily total

Next to the end time every cell shows the time recorded that day. Which time depends on how you run your account: if you approve screenshots (manually, or with an approval rule), the total counts approved time only, the same minutes payroll counts, and the tooltip shows what is still unapproved; if you never approve, it counts all tracked time. The note under the table says which applies.

With working hours set, the total is judged once the day is over against the expected hours (end minus start minus the unpaid break): green when it reaches them within the grace, amber when it is at least three quarters, red below that. The tooltip spells out the expected hours and the shortfall. Days off and days still in progress are not judged.

What your employees see

Each employee has a Your week panel on their own dashboard home with exactly their row of this grid, the working hours that apply to them and the same colours, so nobody learns from a report that they count as late. They see only their own row.

Good to know

  • The grid reads the same screenshots and time entries as the work log; nothing new is collected and nothing here changes tracked time, approvals or pay.
  • Every change of working hours is recorded (who, when, from what to what).
  • Colours are a summary, not a verdict. When something looks wrong, open the work log: it is the source of truth.
  • The widget can be hidden and restored from the Settings tab like every other Team Overview widget.
