SCREENish vs TimeCamp: Which Time Tracker Fits Your Team?

SCREENish and TimeCamp solve different problems at different prices. TimeCamp is a broad time-and-billing suite with a genuinely useful free plan, automatic AI-assisted time tracking and 50+ integrations — but screenshots are reserved for its Ultimate tier, which starts at $9.99 per user per month billed annually as of mid-2026. SCREENish takes the opposite approach: one flat plan at $5.00 per employee per month (EU VAT included) with screenshots, activity levels, mouse-jiggler detection and Android GPS all included from day one.

When TimeCamp is the better choice

TimeCamp has earned its reputation, and for several kinds of teams it is simply the better fit. Its free plan is genuinely generous: unlimited users, unlimited projects and timesheets across web, desktop and mobile apps. If all you need is basic time tracking with no budget at all, TimeCamp's free tier is hard to argue with.

Its automatic tracking is another real strength. TimeCamp's AI-assisted tracker can log time in the background and categorize it by keywords, so consultants and agencies who bill across many projects spend far less time filling in timesheets by hand. Combined with invoicing, budgets, billable rates, attendance and leave management, TimeCamp works as a complete time-and-billing suite rather than a monitoring tool.

Finally, TimeCamp connects to 50+ tools, including Jira, Asana and other project trackers, and offers mobile apps plus a self-hosted Enterprise option. If your workflow depends on deep integrations, if you need an iOS app, or if you prefer an established vendor with a large ecosystem, TimeCamp is the safer pick — SCREENish offers fewer third-party integrations and does not have an iOS app yet.

When SCREENish is the better choice

SCREENish is built for teams that specifically want screenshot-verified time tracking without tier-hunting. On TimeCamp, screenshots only arrive on the Ultimate plan; on SCREENish, screenshots, activity levels, idle-time detection and per-project monitoring controls are included in the single $5.00 plan. There is nothing to upgrade to.

The bigger differentiator is how SCREENish treats trust. Its Activity Review feature detects patterns typical of mouse jigglers and auto-clickers, but every flagged case is reviewed by a human before anything reaches a manager — no automatic accusations, and benign explanations such as remote-desktop sessions are noted. Activity is measured only from whether the computer is in use, never from what employees type or click. For teams verifying that the right person is at the keyboard, consent-first face recognition (currently in beta) is available: employees opt in, submit their own photos and can withdraw consent at any time.

SCREENish also bundles things competitors usually charge extra for: Android GPS tracking for field teams at no additional cost, payroll and accounting reports with hourly rates and spending limits, read-only project sharing so clients can see progress without seeing rates or other employees, and Team Huddle — peer-to-peer calls, encrypted chat and direct file sharing that are never recorded or stored.

To be fair about trade-offs: SCREENish keeps screenshots for 45 days rather than indefinitely, integrates with fewer third-party tools, and is a smaller vendor than TimeCamp. If those matter more to you than flat pricing and human-reviewed monitoring, weigh them honestly.

Pricing compared

As of mid-2026, TimeCamp uses a four-tier model (see TimeCamp's pricing page): a free plan; Starter at $3.99/user/month billed annually ($5.49 monthly); Premium at $6.99/user/month annually ($9.99 monthly); and Ultimate at $9.99/user/month annually ($13.99 monthly), with Enterprise pricing on request. Screenshots, unlimited integrations and timesheet approvals sit in the Ultimate tier, so a screenshot-monitored team of 10 costs roughly $100–140 per month depending on billing cycle.

SCREENish charges a flat $5.00 per employee per month with every feature included — screenshots, activity levels, Activity Review, Android GPS, payroll reports, Team Huddle and client sharing. For EU customers, VAT is already included in the price. The same 10-person team costs $50 per month, and the free trial requires no credit card. If you only need timesheets, TimeCamp's free or Starter plans are cheaper; if you need screenshot-verified tracking, SCREENish costs roughly half of TimeCamp's Ultimate tier.

Frequently asked questions

Is SCREENish cheaper than TimeCamp?

It depends on what you need. For plain timesheets, TimeCamp's free plan or Starter tier ($3.99/user/month billed annually as of mid-2026) is cheaper. For screenshot-based tracking, TimeCamp requires the Ultimate plan at $9.99–$13.99 per user per month, while SCREENish includes screenshots and every other feature in one flat $5.00 per employee per month plan, EU VAT included.

Does TimeCamp take screenshots?

Yes, but only on its Ultimate and Enterprise plans as of mid-2026. When enabled, TimeCamp's desktop tracker captures screenshots every 10 minutes. On SCREENish, screenshots are part of the standard plan for all accounts, with per-project controls and 45-day retention.

Can either tool detect mouse jigglers or auto-clickers?

SCREENish includes Activity Review, which flags activity patterns typical of mouse jigglers and auto-clickers. Every flagged case is checked by a human reviewer before any conclusion is drawn — there are no automatic accusations, and benign causes like remote-desktop sessions are identified. TimeCamp does not advertise a comparable fake-activity detection feature.

Which platforms do SCREENish and TimeCamp support?

SCREENish runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, offers a Chrome extension (including Chromebooks) and an Android app with GPS tracking; there is no iOS app yet. TimeCamp offers desktop apps for Windows, Mac and Linux, a web app, browser extensions and mobile apps.
