Time tracking productivity software that shows where the hours go

A timesheet tells you how long someone worked. Productivity software should also tell you what those hours looked like. SCREENish does both: it tracks time per project and pairs every stretch of it with screenshots, keyboard and mouse activity levels, and an optional list of the programs used, so "a productive day" is something you can see rather than guess.

The productivity signals, and what they mean

  • Activity levels. Keyboard and mouse input is summarised as Active, Partially active or Idle. Activity is measured as counts of input events; SCREENish does not log what was typed.
  • Idle time. When the employee stops responding, the app detects it, asks, and reports the idle period alongside the work log. A weekly idle-time email sums it up per employee and project.
  • Screenshots. Captured at random moments throughout tracked time, so the activity numbers always come with visual context.
  • Used programs. An optional per-project report of the applications used while tracking.

Distraction rules that nudge instead of punish

For programs and websites you consider off-task, distraction rules let the app remind the employee to get back to work while they are tracking time. The point is a nudge in the moment, not a report card after the fact. You configure the rules per project in Advanced Options, together with screenshots, program reports and idle detection.

Productivity numbers you can trust

Activity metrics are only useful if they cannot be gamed. Stretches of tracked time that look like a mouse jiggler or auto-clicker are flagged and sent to a review queue where a person looks at the evidence; nothing is rejected automatically. That keeps the productive-hours numbers honest for everyone, especially the people doing real work. Read how mouse jiggler detection works.

From insight to action

  • Graphs and work logs. Weekly performance graphs per employee, and a work log where time, screenshots, activity and idle periods line up on one timeline.
  • Weekly budget limits. Cap the hours per assignment; when the limit is reached, tracking stops counting against your budget.
  • Premium price timeframes. Pay a higher rate for the hours of the day you need your team the most.
  • Payroll and timesheet reports. Weekly or monthly, delivered by email or downloaded as XLS. See web time sheet software for the reporting side.

All of it is included in the flat 5$ per employee per month plan.

Frequently asked questions

How does SCREENish measure productivity?

Through keyboard and mouse activity levels (Active, Partially active, Idle), detected idle time, screenshots taken at random moments, and an optional report of the programs used while tracking. Activity is measured as counts of input events; the software does not log what was typed.

Can it help employees avoid distracting websites and programs?

Yes. Distraction rules, configured per project, let the tracking app remind an employee to get back to work when they spend tracked time in programs or websites you marked as off-task. It is a nudge in the moment rather than a punishment after the fact.

Can employees fake the productivity numbers?

Faking is detectable. Tracked time that looks like it was produced by a mouse jiggler or auto-clicker is flagged for human review, and a manager decides what to do with the evidence. Nobody is accused automatically, and honest work is never penalised by an algorithm.

Which platforms does it run on?

Windows, Mac and Linux desktop apps, a Chrome extension for trusted tracking, and an Android GPS app in beta. Everything reports into one web dashboard.

What does the productivity software cost?

5$ per employee per month, everything included: time tracking, screenshots, activity levels, distraction rules, reports and support. EU VAT is included and the free trial needs no credit card.
