App Sign-In: "This app version is no longer allowed by your employer"
If the SCREENish app shows This app version is no longer allowed by your employer when you sign in, your employer now requires the latest version of the time tracking app. Your account and password are fine: install the current app and sign in again. Your projects, settings and tracked time are kept.
How to update to the latest version
- Open www.screenish.com in a browser and sign in with the same email and password you use in the app.
- Open Downloads in the left menu.
- Download the current app for your system: on Windows the Official version Windows row (Windows 10 and 11); on macOS the Official App MacOS universal build; on Linux the AppImage.
- Install it and open it. You can uninstall the old app afterwards.
- Sign in with your usual email and password and start the timer as before.
The current app keeps itself up to date, so this message does not come back after future releases.
If you cannot install the current app
- Windows 7 or 8. The current app runs on Windows 10 and 11 only. Tell your employer: they can allow the legacy app for you with one click (Allow legacy app on their Projects page), and you keep using the Legacy version Windows download.
- No permission to install software. Ask your IT administrator to install the current app from the Downloads page, or ask your employer to allow the legacy app while that is arranged.
- You work for more than one company. The message means at least one of them requires the latest version. Updating once covers all of them.
A different message, Wrong Credentials, means the email or password is wrong, not the app version. See Downloading the SCREENish App for every download option.
