Screenshots: Capturing All Monitors

By default the tracking application captures a single display: the monitor the employee selects when tracking starts. If an employee works on two or three screens, the screenshots show only that one, while the Machine and System Info panel in the work log still tells you how many displays the machine actually has.

To capture everything, open Projects, go to the Assign Projects to Employee(s) tab, open Advanced Options for the assignment and switch on Capture All Monitors in the Employee Monitoring Options panel (the option is shown while screenshots are enabled). From then on, every monitor connected at the moment of the screenshot is combined into one composite image, so it stays a single screenshot in work logs, approvals and reports.

Two things to know before you enable it:

1. It works with the latest beta version of the tracking application. If screenshots still show one monitor, an outdated app is the first thing to check; see Downloading the SCREENish Beta App.

2. It is not compatible with Smart Blur. A project with Capture All Monitors uses whole-screen blur or no blur, and the dashboard will ask you to resolve the conflict when you switch it on. See Screenshots: Choosing a Privacy Blur Mode.

Like every monitoring option, the change reaches the tracker at its next login, so ask the employee to restart the tracking application after you save. See Project Monitoring Options: When Setting Changes Take Effect.
